COMMERCIALISATION DE L’IGNAME:Après un 15 août alléchant, le prix de l’igname encore à la hausse

Disponible en quantité importante de part le passé récent, l’igname après sa célébration coutumière le 15 aout dernier à Savalou, est devenue de plus en plus chère. Ce qui s’explique sans nul doute par la non disponibilité en masse. Un tour au marché Dantokpa a permis de faire le constat.

Comme dans les autres marchés du Benin, la commercialisation de l’igname est récurrente. Au marché de Dantokpa, derrière le CEG, c’est la zone connue pour l’exposition des sacs d’igname. Comme tout attente, le prix de l’igname cette année est encore à la hausse jusqu’en septembre. A en croire dame Christine, revendeuse d’igname le prix auquel est livrée l’igname bien après sa célébration traditionnelle est exorbitant. « Ce n’est pas moi qui cultive l’igname, je ne peux que vendre en me référent au prix auquel j’ai payé. L’igname n’est pas en quantité suffisante sur le terrain », a expliqué dame Christine. Elle ajoute que la vente d’igname après le 15 aout a considérablement augmenté. Florence qui vient se procurer de l’igname ‘’laboko’’ pour en faire l’igname pilé, avoue que les prix ont augmentés. « Je viens presque tous les jours ici acheter de l’igname. Il faut avouer que comparativement aux mois passés, le prix de l’igname a grimpé de façon exponentielle. Aujourd’hui ce qui se vendait à 7000 f CFA est livré à 15000 francs », confie-t-elle. A les croire, les clients les plus fréquents ces derniers temps sont les gérants de buvettes et autres lieux de restaurations spécialisés dans l’igname pilée, frite ou préparée. « La cherté de l’igname en ce temps de petite saison, est due à la faible disponibilité de l’igname, et par conséquent de la production ». A entendre toutes les vendeuses d’igname rencontrée, les agriculteurs réduisent la semence de ce précieux tubercule. Elles profitent donc de l’occasion pour remercier le gouvernement béninois pour les efforts consentis dans le secteur agricole et invite les producteurs à la base à s’y mettre plus à leur tour.
Il faut noter qu’au marché Dantokpa, on retrouve plusieurs types de ce tubercule. Entre autres, le labako, santana,pinonon,lula, nabia, folou et gona. Par ailleurs a chaque type est destiné un prix.
