Lundi 25 mars 2024, un prêt de 10 milliards a été approuvé par la Banque ouest-africaine de développement (Boad). Il est destiné à la construction de nouvelles unités de transformation de cajou au sein de la zone économique spéciale, GDIZ Bénin.
Ce prêt de 10 milliards FCfa a été octroyé à la société Benin Cashew. Comme nous apprend Agence Ecofin, ce financement va permettre de construire de nouvelles unités de transformation de noix de cajou au sein de la zone industrielle de Glo-djigbé Zè.
En effet, ce financement prouve la volonté de la BOAD a accompagné la révolution industrielle en cours au Bénin. Venant d’un accord de partenariat entre le gouvernement béninois et Arise IIP, la zone dispose déjà d’environ une douzaine d’unités opérationnelles. Il y a l’unité intégré de textile Btex, les unités de transformation du soja bio et conventionnel Bénin organics et Bénin agribusiness et African ceramics solutions (Acs), usine de fabrication de carreaux, de concassés et de gravats avec des matières premières locales.
En termes de transformation, il faut dire que plus de 100 000 tonnes de noix de cajou sont transformées par an dans un total de cinq unités de transformation. Cet apport financier de la BOAD contribuera certainement à l’élargissement de cette zone qui constitue la vitrine d’un Bénin industrialisé.
